You've heard of Joss Whedon and J.J. Abrams. Perhaps it may be time to add Steven Moffat to that list. Moffat, head writer and senior producer of the new, revisionist Doctor Who, positively wowed with his modern-day update on the Sherlock Holmes saga, featuring Benedict Cumberbatch as a too-hip-for-the-room, too-clever-by-half Holmes for modern times. It sounds like a terrible idea: Take one of literature's most beloved characters and transplant him to present-day London, but this incredible tale worked, on every level. Sherlock will be back, by the way: BBC Wales and PBS have signed on for more.
